Why Consistency is Key in Your Business

I’ve got some good and bad news for you: nobody ever got to (and stayed at) the top of their game by fluke or half-assed effort. Sure, there’s the odd overnight success story in every industry. But, for any kind of tangible, lasting success, you need consistent and determined action.

While that may be bad news for those who were hoping to become a yoga-legend by attending a class sporadically a few times a year, it’s fantastic news for people with goals that are willing to commit to consistency. The other good news is that consistency doesn’t have to involve dramatic, draining feats (although it can be, if that’s how you roll!) It’s about taking small actions without fail over weeks, months and years.

If you want to take your business to the next level, consistency is vital. Let me show you why.

Why Consistency is Key in Your Business

Professional Consistency

Your customers and clients want reliability and predictability when dealing with you. They need to be able to trust that your products or services will be high-quality each and every time, just as your customer service and all other interactions are.

Without this kind of consistency, you will be hard-pressed to grow a loyal customer base.

From a branding and marketing perspective, consistency is essential in building brand identity and recognition. You want your audience to recognise your company or business at first glance, so using consistent colours, tones, messaging, logos, music and voice is a must.

Lead From The Front

Do you have one of those friends that you’d label as “flakey?” Aren’t they annoying as hell!

Maybe you love them to death anyway, but chances are, because they are inconsistent, you can’t rely on them and they are not on the top of your speed dialling list. Your customers will feel the same. Don’t be the flakey friend to them!

Being a leader also requires consistency. Your employees look at what you do as much as what you say. If you don’t do what you vow to, show up when you promise to, or prioritise the things you want them to prioritise, they are going to follow your lead.

Good things take time, it’s true. If you are impatient and give up on something before you give it a chance to take off, you could be shooting yourself in the foot.

Or shooting yourself in the wallet!

If you have a well-thought-out plan, stick to it and see it through. Chopping and changing can be costly, and you will never get the chance to reap the benefits if you aren’t consistent.

How To Be Consistent

Okay, ladies, I could seriously write a book about this one. Well, you got me. I actually wrote about it a lot in my book!

But, let’s boil it down. Consistency is about showing up and doing the thing without fail, even when you don’t want to. It’s all about staying power and not letting those fears, doubts, and excuses creep in to derail you.

Sounds intimidating, I know, but let’s make it snack-sized, yeah?

  • Start by selecting some small but powerful habits and rituals.
  • Make them relatively easy to commit to.
  • Ensure they are going to keep you on the track to your business goals.
  • Try and make them a part of your daily routine.
  • Establish a no excuses, no complaints, and no bullshit policy.
  • Find someone to hold you accountable for doing these things consistently.
  • Focus on the long-term goals instead of short-term gratification to boost motivation.
  • Repeat, repeat repeat.

So, are you ready to be consistent in your business and start seeing the results you deserve? Well, it is a lot easier to be consistent when you have someone gently kicking your butt to hold you accountable. And that someone could be me! Book a convenient time to chat here.
