When I was a teenager my mum use to call me the dragon…apparently trying to wake me was like waking a dragon! Actually I think she said it went from taming a dragon (as a lil one) to a moody teen ahahha!
According to my husband I am still a little dragon like if I get woken up!
A year ago I worked for someone else, like I had done my whole working life. My alarm would wake me up at 6 am I would dress, literally flip top my head and throw some breakfast down my throat. I would then run, depending on how late I was for the bus. There was one time I was running so late that I sprinted up a steep hill and powered it to the bus stop! My journey to and from work took me two hours a day. Two hours a day away from my small children and husband. But most importantly away from me. It wasn’t until I started losing interest in my job did I realise just how much I had stopped looking after myself and how much I had crammed into the space of a day.
BUT one action I did every day on the bus that changed my life, journey and how I experienced life was writing in a gratitude journal. I would spend the hour on the bus filling my happy tank up and focussing on what I did have. Man there was and still is so much! I had no idea that I was manifesting and forging a new ideal life- Which once I realised I held onto that dragon and we are now flying!
Fast forward to today I work full time ( well as full time as you can get with small kids right!) in my new business. I have to say that I don’t wake up at 6am as I tend to be a night owl now fitting in work around the family. However I now have the time to get up without an alarm clock… Here are my morning rituals:
1. I repeat every morning and every night my two goals I have set for the year. ” I am so happy and grateful now that….”
2. Breakfast is now a nutritious green smoothie with bircher muesli or a piece of wholemeal toast… then a coffee!
3. I still continue to write in my gratitude journal. It keeps me humble, on track, on purpose and striving to become the best version of myself
4. Next I set my intention for the day and set the top 3 tasks
5. I decide what form of exercise I will fit in during the day
This year I am going to add in a meditation into my morning wake up… Embracing that gorgeous spiritual side of life excited me.
I invite you to look at how you start your day. It is helping you create and enjoy your life? What else can you add into your day to make it an epic one every day…Yes it is possible.
Remember you can tame, wake and fly a dragon.
