Owning A Business Does Not Have To Be Lonely

Owning A Business Does Not Have To Be Lonely - Natalie TolhopfI see you, babe – sitting in your office, gazing out the window at the world going by, wishing you had someone there with you.

Someone to bounce ideas off of, to help you find your true north, to tackle the challenges and celebrate the victories with. Or even someone to give you a good slap in the biz when you need it!

Society has long idealised the concept of the solopreneur burning the midnight oil and slaving their way to success all alone, but this is a total myth. Owning a business doesn’t have to be lonely!

Even the smartest and brightest among us need someone to be accountable to, to shine a spotlight on our blind spots, and help us keep the momentum going.

Let me tell you why you don’t have to be (and shouldn’t be) lonely in your biz.

Accountability Trumps Procrastination Every Time

Of all your many skills, I’m guessing that procrastination is up there at the top of the list. It’s the case for many people, and it’s a right pain in the ass.

There are a load of ways to tackle procrastination, but one of the best is to have someone you are accountable to.

If you promise your friend you will meet them for a yoga sesh after work, and you know they’re going to be waiting for you at the door (or better yet, picking you up at your house), you’re a gazillion times more likely to dedicate yourself to a downward dog or two.

Most of us have no problem letting ourselves down (and getting a good case of the guilts while we’re at it). But, we’ll bend over backwards (literally, when it comes to yoga!) to avoid letting someone else down – especially if that someone isn’t going to let it slide!

You Are Not Perfect

Yes, I said it! And guess what? I’m not perfect either!

My brand is all about embracing imperfect action. So, since you can’t be amazing at everything, you’re going to need to call in some backup now and then.

Whether that means outsourcing some tasks or getting professional insight from a mentor or business coach, two heads are always better than one. Another person may see opportunities or obstacles that you don’t, and help you level up those areas where you don’t happen to be wonder woman.

If you want your business to grow, you need to grow right along with it, which is exactly what the right business coach can help you do.

Sometimes, Owning A Business Requires A Biz Slap

Support and encouragement are all well and good, but if you are surrounded only by yes-men and women, you may end up making some abysmal decisions and find yourself up shit creek without a proverbial paddle.

Maybe you need someone to kick you in the butt before you’re inspired to change, or someone to call you out on the crap in your head before you can really understand what’s holding you back. Either way, having someone you trust with your best interests (and those of your business) give you a targeted biz slap where you need it can provide just the right motivation and momentum.

Break Out Of Lonely Mode

It is so easy to become a business hermit when you run your own business. There are days where the only conversation you have is with the cat or the courier driver.

Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be like that. You can break out of lonely mode and drive your business forward to success at the same time.

Say it after me, babe: what do you need?

An objective, badass cheerleader who won’t accept excuses!

And when do you need it?

Now!

That’s your cue. So get off your butt, prepare to say goodbye to procrastination, perfectionism and comparisonitis, and book a discovery call with me today. Click here to choose a convenient time.
